See What Children Know
Many of you may remember our video clip called "The Freeze" in which Evan, a child who is living with Down’s Syndrome, imitates another child striking a "John Travolta" pose (aka Saturday Night Fever) each time the music stops. He assumes the same pose instead letting the music randomly "catch" him in a funny position. Given Evan’s misunderstanding of the conventional rules of the game, he uses his powers of observation and mime to play the game with gusto. We have watched Evan grow, over the twelve months following the videotaping of “The Freeze”, into a child who leads the play of others. We present highlights of these twelve months, captured in video, with dates, to chronicle how Evan’s social interactions have changed. Notes From the Field
Your Video Clips in Emails : Sending video through an email just got easier. If you have a webcam you record a video message at www.tokbox.com. Type in the email addresses that you want to receive your video message. You can even set up live video chats on TokBox. All of this is free. If you have a web camera that has a cable, you can point the camera at your classroom and then share classrooms moments with parents or colleagues. We like the simplicity of sending video inside an email, not as an attached file. Your recipient opens the email you sent and clicks on a link to watch the video. Downloading is not required and the quality is rather good. Check it out at www.tokbox.com. If you want to upload video files from your hard drive, you can use Video Egg, Viddler, or Vimeo. Google these names if you are interested in sharing video from a hosting service. Check out the ways they offer to keep your video clips private. These sites are more professional than YouTube and are designed more for schools or businesses.
